Summary:
The Greater Vancouver Regional Steering Committee (RSCH) on Homelessness was formed under the federal government's National Homelessness Initiative (NHI), Supporting Communities Partnership Initiative (SCPI). This bulletin announces that the RSCH has produced a new regional plan to alleviate and prevent homelessness in the Greater Vancouver region. It provides an outline of plans for emergency, transition, supportive, and independent housing; employment policy and income assistance; and support services like outreach, drop-in centres, health services, and substance use services. It provides a list of next steps in this implementation process. The bulletin also gives an update on new research projects on homelessness in the region, carried out by the McCreary Centre Society, the GVRD, and the BC Ministry for Social Development and Economic Security (MSDES).
