User's Guide Fact Sheet for Slide-Tape Presentation: An Alternative Approach to Women's Health

This document, produced by the Vancouver Women's Health Collective (VWHC), provides a script to accompany slides for the VWHC presentation entitled "An Alternative Approach to Women's Health." The presentation was geared towards "general audience of senior secondary school level or older," and addresses the exclusion and discrimination of women in and by the health care system. The script describes the collective model of the VWHC and its goals, including their continued critique of the power hierarchies at work in society and in medical institutions, and their commitment to a self-help approach including cervical self-exams and breast self-exams, in opposition to "the oppressive medical system" which succeeds by keeping women in the dark about their bodies and their health.
