About AIDS Vancouver Island

AIDS Vancouver Island (AVI) is a community-based AIDS Service Organization (ASO) with offices in Greater Victoria, Nanaimo, the Comox Valley, and Campbell River. AVI also offers services in the Port Hardy area and includes all of the Gulf Islands in its catchment area. AIDS Vancouver Island was established in 1985 when a small group of men decided it was time to meet the challenge posed by the AIDS epidemic on Vancouver Island.

Today, AVI serves the needs of people infected and affected by HIV and hepatitis C by taking evidence-based action to prevent infection, provide support, and reduce stigma. Staff and volunteers at AVI provide: education, advocacy and support services to clients; education and harm reduction information to schools, the broader community and target populations; and services to people who use injection drugs through their Street Outreach Services program.
