For Immediate Release: On the Morning of Tuesday July 11th, Two Thousand Crosses Planted in Oppenheimer Park - Each Cross Symbolizes a Death from Illicit Drug Overdose in BC since 1990

Announcement of an upcoming demonstration organized by VANDU and the Harm Reduction Action Society (HRAS) to commemorate drug users who have overdosed in the Downtown Eastside since 1990. Plans for the day include a protest at Main and Hastings; speakers, music and food at the Park; and a press conference. This will be the second demonstration of its kind - the first was in 1997.
