Summary:
A guidebook produced by the Community Coordination for Women's Safety Project, a project "designed to help rural and isolated communities enhance intersectoral coordinated responses to violence against women." The guidebook provides some context for the project, and addresses the need for community partnership (among community organizations, service providers, law enforcement, policy makers, etc) in working to end violence against women, since the violence many women experience is often tied to other barriers and forms of oppression they may face. From research carried out in British Columbia in 2003/2004 on successful and creative partnership models, the guidebook offers practical information for community partners to come together in order to enhance women's safety and work towards ending violence against women, particularly in rural and isolated communities.
