Summary:
Letter from End Legislated Poverty (ELP) to various BC organizations who formed a coalition against changes to BC Benefits in the late 1990s. The letter was originally sent out with a copy of the "ELPKIT", a document providing information to help the coalition with their campaign. The letter describes how the ELPKIT includes strategies for lobbying politicians, information about BC Benefits, a sample letter to send to City Council, and resolutions that coalition members can bring to their Regional Health Boards and Municipal Councils. The letter advocates lobbying the provincial government to make income assistance and poverty issues a key focus of the NDP leadership convention in 2000.
