Safety First: A Reality-Based Approach to Teens and Drugs

Educational booklet designed for parents and educators of teenagers. It gives practical strategies for ensuring the health and safety of youth in relation to drug use. The author puts forward a "safety first" , or harm reduction alternative to traditional, abstinence-based drug prevention strategies. Strategies include emphasizing the importance of moderation; getting young people to understand the consequences of substance use; and providing young people with science-based education about the effects of drugs on the body and why people use drugs.
