Summary:
Academic research paper arguing that attention to property as a legal and political set of relations is overdue in geographic scholarship. In particular, property and property law should be understood in terms of the legal violence it is enacted through and legitimated by. Using the Downtown Eastside's gentrification as a case study, the author argues that the violences enacted through property development and law are also powerfully geographic.
