Research Paper / Project Report
Summary:
Results of a research project whose goals were to understand community capacity to provide care and support to HIV/AIDS populations. Focus groups were conducted in 5 communities across Canada, with frontline as well as informal care providers, and care recipients. The report includes findings on what participants thought HIV/AIDS "care" consisted of; what is required to make services work effectively; and access barriers to health and social services. The report recommends policy and programming that supports informal care networks; is developed from the ground up; provides education and training initiatives for service providers; develops creative and innovative models of care; and builds partnerships and collaborative linkages with all stakeholders.
