Summary:
A bilingual document that summarizes the proceedings of the Canadian Conference on Counter-Terrorism and Public Health held in Toronto from October 29 to November 1, 2003. The conference was designed to bring experts from across Canada and internationally together to provide a forum on issues related to chemical, biological, radio-nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) agents and events. The program focused on four areas of public health activities that relate to emergencies: prevention; preparedness; response; and recovery and continuity. Four related conference themes emerged: review of any or all hazards; integration and coordination within and across the health sector; the key role played by the health sector in the CBRNE spectrum; and a sharing of knowledge and experience.
