Getting an Abortion in Vancouver (revised)

This manual, prepared by the Vancouver Women's Health Collective (VWHC) in 1982 and updated in 1984, describes in detail the process of getting an abortion in BC. It outlines what a woman should do if she thinks she is pregnant, where to go for pregnancy testing (VWHC, Pine Free Clinic), and how the approval process works (through the decision-making of a three-person "therapeutic abortion committee"). The manual gives instructions for preparing for an abortion, what to expect during and after the procedure, and procedures for after-abortion care. The manual also includes gender-based analysis of Canadian abortion laws, and what women can do to fight for better access to abortion.
