Summary:
An education and prevention manual written for women by Action on Women's Addictions- Research and Education (AWARE). The manual makes connections between women's lives and social determinants of health, and women's use of alcohol and prescription drugs. It uses accessible language to address structural and cultural differences between the way that women and men are treated, and the ways that women use alcohol and prescription drugs. The manual also identifies several issues pertaining to women that may affect their use of alcohol or prescription drugs, and resources specific to their needs (i.e.- women with disabilities, women who have suffered from abuse, women with eating disorders, immigrant women, women of colour, lesbian and bisexual women, aging women, women with depression, etc.)
