The Community Health Advocate Project Facilitators Manual provides information about the Community health Advocate Project, the Vancouver Women's Health Collective (VWHC), the Patient's Rights workshops, and the community organizations that have acted as collaborators or partners of the project. It includes a history of the Community Health Advocate Project, its funding issues, its goals and objectives, and the number and location of Patient's rights workshops held between March 200, and May 2002. There is a description of the women's-centred approach to health care encouraged by the VWHC and the workshop, as well as gender-based analysis of the medicalization of women's bodies and the influence of the pharmaceutical industry in health care in Canada. instructions for facilitating a patient's rights workshop are included, as are a sample agenda, a sample evaluation forms for attendees, and a sample letter to be used to contact community organizations and groups who may be interested in hosting a workshop.
