Volunteer Training Manual

A training manual for new volunteers of the Vancouver Women's Health Collective (VWHC). The manual is quite thorough, and includes a history of the VWHC, its political position on Western medicine and the health care industry, its position on access to abortion, the need for preventative care and complementary therapy within the mainstream health care system, and the feminist and collective politics of the organization, The manual outlines different tools for effective communication within a collective, the importance of knowing about one's body (self-help model), and the politics of birth control that the VWHC believes in. The manual also includes a procedural component outlining the day-to-day activities of volunteering with the VWHC, from photocopying to administering pregnancy tests, abortion referrals, and cervical cap fitting.
