Summary of Provincial Commission on Housing Options Recommendations

A commission on Housing options was established in 1992 to consult with British Columbians and bring forward recommendations for housing policy and programs to the Minister of Municipal Affairs, Recreation and Housing by the end of 1992. This is a summary of the commission's recommendations which includes: legislative and regulatory reforms to allow the private and non-profit sectors to build as affordably as possible; reallocation of government spending on specific programs; new programs to assist British Columbians in housing need and organizational changes within the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Recreation and Housing.
