Summary:
This document is a response to the request for written input on Population Health Goals for British Columbia made by the Provincial Health Officer. Challenges the assumption that people with disabilities are "sick"; favours a determinants of health model, concluding that population health in BC cannot be left in the hands of the Ministry of Health and health care industry; provides examples of federal and provincial government actions that are detrimental to health from a socioeconomic determinants perspective.
