Summary:
This document is intended to provide disability advocates with an outline of how the BC Coalition of People with Disabilities intends to pursue its advocacy around health care reform in BC, and to provide information and assistance to other groups lobbying around health care issues. It was written after frustrated attempts to participate in the "New Directions" BC health reform process, and after key decisions affecting people with disabilities were made without consultation. The document is intended to begin to forge links with other groups involved in health care reform. Includes a glossary of terms and health fact sheets on HIV/AIDS; Respite; Women; Rehabilitation; Mental Health Act; Patients' Charter of Rights; Continuing Care; and Direct Funding.
