Summary:
A book created by a group of volunteers from the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre (DEWC) as part of a collaborative effort between the DEWC Skills Development Project and the CHODARR project. The authors draw on 12 years of DEWC newsletters to piece together a historical and present-day portrait of women's voices, creativity, and activism in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. Using poetry, images, and text the authors include: details about the project; a brief history of the women's centre; descriptions of the services available at the women's centre; information about the women who use, work, and volunteer at the centre; and a picture of the role that the centre plays in the broader community.
