Obstruction of In-Justice: Pickton, Pigs and Politicians

This is a newsletter (vol. 1, no. 5) of the Collective Opposed to Police Brutality - Vancouver that provides information, analysis, and critique of police actions locally, nationally, and internationally. This issue focuses on Vancouver's missing women, the election of COPE, and squatting. It includes articles on: recently elected mayor Larry Campbell, 'Why Anarchist Hate the Cops,' and an indigenous person's experience of police brutality. Other sections included are: 'Special reports' - on the Victoria Memorial Arena Squat, the national squatting movement, and homelessness; 'Local news' - on police attacks on Guns and Roses fans, sexist comments made by VPD officer and a RCMP officer, dropped charges against Woodwards squatters, privacy and the Public Safety Act, a Woodwards update, an attack against the safe injection site by US white house drug Czar, police negligence in terms of missing women, and community policing; 'National news' from Saskatoon, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, and Winnipeg; and 'International news' from USA, Nepal, Chile, China, Italy, Mongolia, India, UK, among others. It also includes a page of protest songs set to the tune of Christmas carols.
