About the Vancouver Women's Health Collective

The Vancouver Women’s Health Collective (VWHC) is a collective of women who value women’s knowledge, support one another to take charge of their own health, and raise awareness and inspire action for the feminist advancement of women’s health.

The VWHC operates through a non-hierarchical structure to advocate for appropriate, quality health care for women. In 2009, the VWHC opened Lu’s: A Pharmacy for Women, as a unique opportunity to organize in a new way, by bringing together health care professionals both traditional and holistic, volunteers, community activists, and community members in one space.

While the initiatives undertaken by the Vancouver Women’s Health Collective have changed since its inception in 1971, the aim has remained the same: to empower women to take control of their health through self-advocacy, information and knowledge, and activism.
