Summary:
This is a presentation written by the Aaron Vidaver, Friends of the Woodwards Squat, for the October 22, 2002 Vancouver City Regular Council Meeting, as well as the agenda for the meeting. In relation to the squat, the agenda includes an in camera meeting to deal with matters of 'security of property of the city' and there is a motion on the 'social sustainability of the Woodward's redevelopment', for which requests to speak have been received. The presentation, which addresses the motion, outlines the situation at the Woodwards squat and calls on the Council to address the housing crisis in Vancouver and to meet the demands of the squatters that primarily concern ending police harassment at the squat and dealing with the legal issues pertaining to the destruction of the squatters' property by the police and City of Vancouver. There are handwritten notes on this draft of the presentation. The final version of this presentation is reprinted in W.O.O.D.S.Q.U.A.T. Newsletter #26.
