This is a reflection on the Woodwards squat within the context of affordable housing in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver and BC Liberal policies that have cut social housing projects. This entry on September 16th, 2002, discusses the writer's own experience of living in an illegal suit and its substandardized conditions, but also the contradictions that landlords and law enforcement have to face within an environment without adequate housing and support.
