Vancouver Women’s Health Collective

This newspaper advertisement appeared in the Vancouver Courier March 3, 1999. The ad describes the Vancouver Women's Health Collective (VWHC) and the Community Health Advocate Project, and provides contact information for the project coordinator, Brenda Kent.

The goals and objectives of the Community Health Advocate Project of the Vancouver Women's Health Collective (VWHC), revised and updated from the 1997 project proposal submitted to the Vancouver/Richmond Health Board. The updated goals and objectives reflect the changes in the project, the funding issues, and the movement towards new funders (i.e. the Vancouver Foundation). The outcome measures have also changed, based on the development of the Patients' Rights workshops. The document was used internally and asks for comments and suggestions from the VWHC.

This pamphlet, produced by the Vancouver Women's Health Collective (VWHC) for their Community Health Advocate Project, describes patients' rights and the goals of the project. The pamphlet describes the Community Health Advocate Project as "an outreach project that educates women about their rights within the health care system" through workshops and support through community health advocates.

The Women's Resource Kit was produced by the Women's Health Education Project of Newfoundland and Labrador, a project that began with a provincial survey of women in Newfoundland identifying women's health problems, followed by a consultation with women who had carried out the survey across the province. Workshops were developed out of the consultations, based on women's identified health needs, such as mental health, reproductive health, and substance abuse. The document reproduces three of the workshop guidelines ("Women and stress," "Mothers and Teenagers," and "Reproductive Health"). The document also includes techniques for workshop facilitation (such as role play and human sculpturing), games and warm-ups for workshops, and further resources.
