Vancouver Women’s Health Collective

This document outlines the benefits for employees of the Vancouver Women's Health Collective (VWHC), dated January 1990. It includes sections on statutory holidays, vacation and sick time, child care, maternity leave, transportation, etc.

This document lists the goals of the Vancouver Women's Health Collective, including continuing to develop a critical perspective of health and the health care industry, reaching a greater number of women, providing women with a broad range of health information, supporting women who want to terminate a pregnancy, and encouraging self help.

A 4-page pamphlet promoting the public education forum about the impact of toxic chemicals on women's health. The pamphlet includes an article entitled "Women in their Environment," with information on the Vancouver Women's Health Collective (VWHC) and their critical, gender-based analysis of health care, pharmaceuticals, environmental pollutants, and multinational corporatization, as well as information about the beginnings of the organization. As well, there is a 1-page article entitled "What's a Nice Environmentalist Doing, working on an issue like this?" by Miranda Holmes of the Georgia Strait Alliance. This article describes the work of the Georgia Strait Alliance and how the forum came to be organized, based on information Miranda Holmes learned from a forum in Seattle, WA called "Poisons in the Web of Life" (1995).

This document outlines the major activities and services provided by the Vancouver Women's Health Collective (VWHC) during the period of the early 1990s. It includes information on their involvement with the Provincial Women's Health Lobby (PWL), their research into the role of health care advocates, one-on-one advocacy work, pre- and post-abortion peer counselling, birth control counselling, their educational workshops and seminars, and their commitment to advocacy skills development for volunteers.
